Picking up the pile
The guide dog pooped on the rug this morning. Her owner, my student, was speaking, and so she wasn’t reading the dog’s signals. Tee-hee. It’s kinda funny. I scooped the whole thing up and flushed it. I couldn’t imagine making her owner “curb” the what-not. I think that’s cruel.
I’m thankful I had that little dog in my class though. Even with the pile. I still miss my Cricket. I’ve never missed a pet so badly. And I don’t think any pet has ever been such a comfort and a friend as that sweet little lab-collie mix.
It’s still raining. Need to run to Target and Ingles this afternoon. I think I’ll skip Walmart. I don’t know why that store grates on me so. It’s evil.
Ordered some luscious summer reading from Amazon. Something From the Oven: Reinventing Dinner in 1950s America and From Hardtack to Home Fries: An Uncommon History of American Cooks and Meals. Can’t wait. There’s nothing like an academic history of kitsch.
And I got Isaac some Sesame Street DVDs. Kids’ Favorite Songs, Sesame Street’s 25th Birthday - A Musical Celebration, and Cookie Monster’s Best Bites. He loves Cookie Monster. He’s more of a Ketchup Monster himself.
Time for lunch. Hamburgers — what I was planning for us this evening. Touché. We’ll eat out instead.
