So, just curious why didn’t you like the last book?

So, just curious why didn’t you like the last book?

You mean Shepherding a Child’s Heart? On the most basic level, I don’t think it delivers what it promises. It privileges a shepherding metaphor for parenting but expresses a rank antagonism between parent and child by referring to “winning battles” and such. There’s no such antagonism in the parenting values described in Scripture, and in fact, Paul commands us to not exasperate our children. Any shepherd who’s at war with his dumb sheep is a pretty lousy shepherd.

I wish that book didn’t enjoy the monopoly it does in our circles. I find it inconsistent in many areas. This is just the big one.

Book Meme…

I’ve seen this going around a lot lately, and was just tagged! 1. One book that changed your life: Maybe an odd choice and not the most significant book I’ve ever read, but the info and timing of Mary Pride’s original Big Book of Homeschooling which…

and number 6 will be written when?

Thanks for that info about Shepherding. Sounds like a legit complaint.
