It was just a perfect day. Granted, the house is still in need of some attention. Sweet Tarts are on the floor and the beds are sheetless. The dog desperately needs a new do.

But after a kicky morning, Gavin’s stinkies got me up at a tolerable 7am. We stumbled around the house until my appointment with Maya. Since Grant had to review some music, the boys joined me. For half the time, they played Elmo computer games together. Yes, together! Hearing Isaac matter-of-factly but kindly explain how to help Elmo go to the potty to his little 19mo brother was just bliss.

Today’s workout was yoga. No easy feat. And Isaac conquered my step while Gavin used my solar plexus as his step. Every time I was in a sitting position, like for the Butterfly pose, Gavin assumed it was time to read a book and plopped his little self right there. Every time I laid on the floor, Sugar dropped her fetching toy in my face. Everytime I did a standing pose, like “Warrior III,” Isaac followed suit. I’ve never giggled so much during a workout.

We snuggled during This is the Dreidel and You Can Go to the Potty. Gavin’s newly interested in that grand throne, and Isaac is enjoying explaining the process to him. The book that was his just a short time ago is now Gavin’s. The little boy who was putting the teddy bear on the potty is no longer Isaac; it’s Gavin. That transition is amazing to watch.

We raced to get dressed to get to the “lonely park” just nearby. It takes awhile to actually get clothes on these little people. Gavin swiped his pants and hid them somewhere. I asked him “Where are your pants?” He replied, “I dunno.” Anyway, this park is “lonely” because our best play date buddies weren’t there. Isaac wore his Bob the Tomato shirt and rain boots and sword and scabbard and, of course, his new Link hat made of the Sunday funnies. We swinged. Or swang. Whichever — we did both. We accidentally called Uncle Greg. We had races down the triple slide with Isaac winning each time. Daddy even joined us at the end. The colors were perfect. The sky couldn’t have been prettier. The fresh air was just what we all needed.

We came home after lunch and all slept. ALL. SLEPT. BLISSFULLY. A perfect cloudy day nap. After a dinner of PB&J and soup, I got to clean up and vacuum everything while my sweet men snuggled on the couch watching Scooby Doo. I sit here listening to Christmas music with a full belly and a full home and a full heart. God is so good. We are so very blessed.

Tomorrow, we’ll put away the Halloween decorations and go on a nature walk and bathe and clip our silly puppy. Another blessed day safe in God’s care. Amen.
