First of all, I am a newbie reader. Did NOT go to BJU…did not go to a Christian school of any sort. Had a Mother who, when as a teen got saved, only to hear if you didn’t go to BJ you quite possibly were not saved….that was in the 1930′s! Nothing changes.
From reading your blog, all those BJU things happen at my present church. I have seen the cult practices, the do as I say and not do, the lies, the covering up the blame shifting….
My pastor and wife grad from BJU in the ’70′s. That is all I will say as they have a “famous” last name.
All of the things that I have read from the last few weeks from your blog, go on in church! In our church, they like my husband because he gives generously to the church….they don’t like me ’cause I see through them. They want “unity” in business meetings. Because I dared to ask a question of the pastor and made what I was told a “rude” comment after his very weak and poor answer, I have been “told” from the pulpit that “don’t bother if you are not one with the body”…..If you question anything, you are told you don’t have the “mind of Christ”….well, if my pastor has the mind of Christ, he is reading a different Bible than I read.
I dare say all of this as I don’t think any of them will read this.
Keep up the good work, as a Mom, as a writer.
My little grand daughter is 2 (April 5). What a great age!
Darn it all! I just spent a half hour reading down through your blog posts, which I really don’t have time for. Knock it off with the smartness, the thoughtfulness, the realness, OK?

I love these people, these charming, innocent, slightly flawed people. It’s like they’re my own family.
