So stinking true it could be funny…
I have a single girlfriend to whom I was apologizing (by e-mail in the middle of the night when I should have been sleeping) for cashing her baby shower check for our newest little one before writing a proper thank-you note (my biggest self-imposed new-baby no-no).
Her reply?? “The last time I checked my bank account online, your check hadn’t been cashed. Even if it was, I wouldn’t be worried that you hadn’t acknowledged the receipt of the package. You’re just a little busy these days with 3 kids under the age of 4…” I just *love* her!!!

Unbelievable.
The older I get, the more marvel at how my single mother pulled it off raising two small children (in a third world country much less). I shake my head and ask, how did she do it?
And I don’t even have kids. I guess that’s because I can barely take care of myself.
