Paul Rader<\/a> had visited for graduation. A former college president of fine Alabama pedigree<\/a> delivered the Baccalaureate address. Local boosters pasted on salesman smiles<\/a>.\u00a0College promotions\u00a0had never been more glittering<\/a>. Just like today<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But their\u00a0salad\u00a0days were gone.<\/p>\n

Bankrupt. Into the hands of a receiver. Just four months\u00a0ago it was an “outstanding asset” with “fewer changes” than any other institution<\/a>\u00a0known to modern man. Now, with\u00a0everything was operating on a cash basis, it couldn’t\u00a0pay its original creditors. It couldn’t\u00a0make good on the bonds.<\/p>\n

It was decided that a receivership was the best policy for the safeguarding of the interests in the college.<\/p>\n

While the institution, like many other businesses, has felt the sting of the depression, it has been meeting its current operating expenses, and the receivership, it is stated, was the result of a hangover from the bonded indebtedness of six years ago.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Who was the person going to be responsible to receiving Bob Jones College’s debts\u00a0and seeing that its investors\u00a0got their money? A lawyer? A banker? A rich benefactor?<\/p>\n
