{"id":5447,"date":"2022-05-25T13:58:00","date_gmt":"2022-05-25T17:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.drslewis.org\/camille\/?p=5447"},"modified":"2022-05-24T16:15:59","modified_gmt":"2022-05-24T20:15:59","slug":"tier-1-the-patriarchs-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.drslewis.org\/camille\/2022\/05\/25\/tier-1-the-patriarchs-model\/","title":{"rendered":"Tier 1: The Patriarch&#8217;s Model"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap wp-block-paragraph\">I first realized that Patriarchy fit what I had observed at BJU when I read about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/books\/edition\/The_Family_in_Early_Modern_England\/qlkS8ZbdbS4C?hl=en&amp;gbpv=0\">17th-century English families<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These families had a strict structure that could not be altered. Think Downton Abbey, if you need a familiar example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lord of the Manor holds all the power. He is the one who goes out into the dog-eat-dog world to fight for his kith and kin. He battles for himself really. This family is just an extension of him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To see this in action, I cannot recommend this PBS show highly enough: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/manorhouse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Manor House<\/a>. You can see it all in technicolor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His son has one job: to wait&#8230;.. for his dad to die, that is.
