Please don’t come to my house today. My darling boy is covered in oatmeal, boogers, drool, red Tylenol, and hives. I *think* the hives are from the cheese doodle Grant thought he would love yesterday. I hope they go away soon. They only bother Mommy, it seems.<\/p>\n
Isaac just got that toddler glint in his eye this week. He can’t\/won’t crawl, but pulling up and cruising is big fun. And climbing on the Mommy jungle-gym. Everything must be explored. And mommy thought she had three more months to digest the toddler books. Where ARE those toddler books?<\/p>\n
He loves bluegrass music. He loves our O Brother Where Are Thou?<\/em> soundtrack. It’s playing on a loop in our house. We do own other music. Honest.<\/p>\n Both my nursing tank-top hooks are unhooked, my hair uncombed, and my face broken out. Everytime my DH catches me like this, he calls it “performance art.” I don’t think it’s a compliment.<\/p>\n I just discovered dried puke on the computer chair. When did that happen? There’s a pile of sopping wet clothes on the floor of the laundry room. I can’t remember why they are wet. But I had to break into my maternity underwear this morning.<\/p>\n There are tufts of dog hair, soggy cherrios, old coffee cups, rubber duckies, and touch-n-feel books in every room of the house. I honestly found a fruit puff and a Hyland’s teething tablet in bed this week.<\/p>\n I think our diaper pail projects the lovely poo-poo smell instead of containing it. Why bother? No Plug-in covers that up.<\/p>\n I think that I need to market the Mommy of a Toddler Diet. You fix a nice meal, sit down to eat it, and half-way through someone decides that only mommy will do. After the 20 minutes of mommy and toddler time, my brain has kicked in and I’m not hungry anymore and the food’s dreadfully cold. Between eating less and racing around and all the weight-bearing “exercise” of mommyhood, I’m one pound away from the weight I was when we conceived Isaac. Yes, it took awhile, but it’s progress.<\/p>\n I’m out of butter, wipes, baking soda, and olive oil. What did I buy at the store 2 days ago? Oh yes, the new flavors of Crest toothpaste, a puzzle for DS, and chocolate. The important stuff.<\/p>\n I did have the forethought to defrost a chicken for dinner tonight. But I have to have 20 minutes to get it ready. Twenty minutes when only the chicken needs me. Does ANYONE\u00a0use those little goodies they put in the wax paper sack in the chicken’s nethers? WHY oh WHY do they so carefully package that yucky stuff for me to wrestle with? The DOG won’t even eat that. Stoopit.<\/p>\n Tomorrow we are going to a funeral for a baby that had ancephaly. Sigh. . . . That’s going to be unbelievably hard. For everyone. The mommy had to have a c-section because her son couldn’t take the rigors of birth. I made an outfit for him with a shadow-embroidered initial. And yesterday I found a birthstone necklace for the mommy. All things that helped me remember my Elise. I hope they help that mommy. Grant is singing too. Sigh. . . . That’ll be so hard.<\/p>\n Oooo — he’s finally asleep. Bless his little heart. . . .
