I’ve finally learned to avoid the frustration of being’ not listened to’ by recognizing the individuls who I have learned are ‘non-listeners.’ I simply stop wasting my time and energy trying to tell them anything. Non-listeners can also be ‘non-responders.’ Talking to them about something that really means a lot to you you, but not to them, if it’s not about ‘them’ and their ‘opinions’ are not an integral part of the conversation, it really isn’t that important to ‘them’ at all to bother listening . They’re simply not interested in listening either in ou or what youlre saying. So talking to them about important things like that, is a complete waste of time, like talking to a goal post, or a telephone pole. And believe me, the telephones don’t work either. Now its just hi and bye how are you, have a nice day, and try to be pleasant. Non listeners are the people who ‘aren’t going to be doig anything about a problem you bring to their attention.. “God is in control”, they say, as they try to spiritualize everything, “God will take care of it”, as they cop out with another religious cliche! God will take care of it? Will He? Without our responsible actions and intervention? I doubt it! I love the little play school figures in the window. One of them really looks angry. I didn’t listen to my little ones enough when they were small, mainly because nobody ever listened to me when I was small. I have repented and I try to give them my full attention today. We have a great relationship. today. It;s never to late to change. God is so good at restoration. He’s got all the best ideas. After all He is God! Great post. If toys could talk, at midnight, after the children are asleep, I wonder what they would say if they were angry? Maybe they would speak on behaf of the angry children. Just my wierd imagination.
