Just looking into those adorable eyes reminds me, as a mother and a grandmother, how I never wanted to ever break a promise to my little ones. I had promised little Mark, # 2 son, age 4, that I would come and vixit him after his tonselectomy surgery. He had to stay in overnight, because of a cold, his chest had filled with some congestion after the surgery, and the doctor wanted to make sure he was alright. He had never been separated overnight from home before. I was so upset. I didn’t want this overnight stay in hospital to be a bad experience for him. When I came in that evening to visit him, he was sleeping so peacefully, and the nurse promised me, she would tell him that I had come. I left the other promise, a little teddy, waiting for him to ‘see’ on the bed side table, when he woke up, a visible reminder that “I had come’. Later the nurse told me that she told Markie, “Your mother came.” And he looked at the teddy, with his big eyes beaming with love and thanks, nodding a grateful ‘yes’. Our little ones are so close to God in their sweet child innocence. What a precious gift God gives us, when He trusts us with them. I love the picture of your second son, your white hawk, in Grant’s arms ‘attachment baby carrier.’ As soon as I first saw that picture, I think I saw an adventurous look in his eyes, of a future explorer who was planning to conquer the world. Love this picture too! Children bring such a sweetness of life into our lives. Thank you Jesus.
