I hate her. I was going to make one of her much-acclaimed (by her) crumbles, cobblers, crisp, buckles, pandowdy, or grunts. But her site, as lovely as it is, can’t load a page in under five minutes.
Oh, Martha. That’s so YOU. You don’t own a microwave. You resist quicky meals of canned soups and saltines. So even your website makes me contemplate “a good thing” while I wait for the buckle recipe to load.
Honestly — I peeled six apples in the time it took a page to finish!
So I just got out my Brides’ Book from my mother-in-law. It’s an old Evangelical recipe book from the 60s with silly parfaits and jello salads. But there I can find the best Apple Crisp recipe and buttercream frosting recipe hands-down. Without feeding the beast of Martha. It’s so Old School.
My FireKing jadeite pie pan will have to wait for another day to show off your pandowdy. But alas, it’s only a repro. It’s only a cheap thing. Not a real good thing.
I still hate her.

I’m not a “Martha Follower” or whatever that may be called but I did try her website straight from yours and found that it loaded very quickly. I tried the recipe called “Berry Grunt” and got it in seconds. Maybe it is your connection. I’m not defending Martha but I hate to see injustice, wherever it may be.
Ah, yes. . . . our router did poop out eventually that evening. But it’s sooooo much more FUN to blame Martha, the non-microwave-using stinker that she is.
Did you make the Grunt? I just like saying that word. I wanna try the buckle.
Didn’t try the Grunt or the Buckle…..She is way out of my cooking league!! BUT…did you hear her advertisement just before the new show started in September where she announced that she had learned microwave cooking during her incarceration? I thought it was hilarious.
Your post caught my eye because I had posted one called “Martha, Martha” on August 24! http://www.graveninhishands.com
are you watching the show? we *love* it.
Hi! I don’t know for sure, but I heard Martha started using a microwave in prison and now she likes it!! 😉
I added the GCM bloggers list to my sidebar and am enjoying visiting new blogs! Nice to meet you! 🙂
I think apple crisp is fabulous no matter how you make it! Your post has inspired me to make some this week…mmm!
