I don’t think any knitter would tell you that math isn’t beautiful. Just like s/he wouldn’t dare say that several rows of stockinette aren’t somehow delicious.
But that isn’t all the beauty. Rows upon rows of knit-purl are lovely in and of themselves, yes. Period. But they are lovely morphed and shaped and crossed and multiplied too.
Are they more lovely? Maybe. Maybe they are. But I can understand why I should refrain from making that conclusion too quickly. Because simple things are lovely just because they are simple.
There’s Math, yes. And then there’s after Math. What comes after Math. . . .
