I’m just now realizing how sentimental I feel around the Fourth. We went to see the fireworks within the last 24 hours that Elise was with us. It rained buckets on us. She responded to the loud, loud noises. It was a sweet memory.
But I don’t think I’ve sat down on those same lawn chairs since. Wait — no, I did last Fourth.
This is the second Fourth we’ve had with our little man. And I don’t think I realized it last year, but I have a compulsion to go a little nuts in the outfit department with him for this holiday. It’s the same time of year that I’m finishing up an outfit for another stillborn little girl in Elise’s memory, and I feel like I need something really, really happy for Isaac too. Some baby bling-bling.
So he wore his little old-fashionedy sailor bubble yesterday. Got called a girl by an old crazy lady. Sigh. . . . But he wore his manly Fourth muscle shirt to evening church to balance it out.
I just need to have some happy, happy memories I guess to replace the wistful ones on this day.

Baby bling-bling! Love that. I got C a little outfit for the 4th & beyond but she only wore it to the park b/c she slept through the parade & was asleep before fireworks. Maybe next year…
